    The vision of the Richmond County School System is “to provide an equitable education for all students to prepare them for life beyond the classroom.” Computer literacy is an important part of today's world - all students need the opportunity to learn to use programs commonly used in the workforce and colleges. The PowerUp initiative uses our education sales tax funds to provide a device for every student. These devices will help assignments to be personalized, engaging, and can increase creativity. This initiative can also provide access to knowledge outside of the classroom. The PowerUp Handbook is designed to help our students understand how to care for the device, use it properly, find help if needed, and to become good digital citizens. 

     

    PowerUp is a school based initiative. Parent orientation and device distribution information will be shared from the school. Stay tuned and get ready to PowerUp!

The Power-Up Student Handbook

  • The PowerUp Handbook helps Richmond County students and parents use school devices safely and responsibly. It includes: 

    • Device Care Tips: Learn how to keep your school-issued device safe and in good condition. 

    • Online Safety Guidance: Understand safe and responsible internet use. 

    • Asynchronous Learning Support: Get tips for staying on track during virtual learning days. 

    • Digital Citizenship: Learn how to use technology respectfully and responsibly. 

    • FAQs and Resources: Find answers to common questions and access helpful tools.

Student Loan Agreement & Device Insurance

  • Students are required to sign the Student Technology Loan Agreement, which outlines the responsibilities for using school-issued devices, including optional insurance details and acceptable use policies. 

     

    Families have the option to get optional insurance for their school-issued devices for $29 per year. Optional device insurance covers accidental damage, cracked screens, liquid submersion, theft, fire, and more. To learn more, visit

PowerUp Parent Course

  • The PowerUp Course for Parents is designed for parents and guardians to understand and navigate our online classroom platform, Canvas. This course mirrors the format of an online class your child might take, but without graded assignments. To receive credit for completing the course, please be sure to fill out the form at the end.

  • Launchpad is a safe and secure platform for students to access applications and files. It protects personal student information and ensures a user-friendly experience for both students and teachers.

Affordable Internet Services

  • Having access to high-speed Internet at home opens up a world of possibilities and opportunities for you and your children. Comcast and AT&T programs for eligible families offer affordable Internet, low-cost computer, free classes and online tutorials.
